DRM guides the planning and the conduct of operations at the strategic level while contributing to the orientation of the maneuver at the tactical level. It provides the President of the Republic, the Minister of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Defense Staff and the major commands with the information necessary for the exercise of their responsibilities.

It follows 4 main axes:

– To research : The DRM uses its sensors and those made available by the armed forces to collect raw information;

– To exploit : It integrates, cross-references, analyzes and interprets the raw data collected and produces detailed, relevant and objective information;

– Diffuser : The DRM transmits the intelligence developed to political decision-makers, military leaders and armed forces in operations;

– Orient : The DRM receives requests for information from political and military authorities and major commands, which it orders and transcribes into search orders.

The DRM is responsible for informing the political and military authorities and helping them in their choices, as part of the strategic watch of risks and threats. It must also provide the Chief of Defense Staff, to whom it reports directly, the intelligence necessary to propose military options and conduct operations in the various theaters. DRM provides information that necessarily impacts the forces in operations in current or potential crises.
